2 - This is a large proof 24 karat gold on solid sterling silver medal minted by the Franklin Mint.

It is part of their collection "The La Scala Bicentennial Treasury of Opera's Most Beautiful Moments".

Each medal commemorative depicted memorable scenes from some of the world's greatest operas.

This one being, Fidelio by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The obverse of the medal interprets the chorus sung by the prisoners as they are momentarily released from their dungeons-"O welche Lust!" (Oh what joy).

The reverse is inscribed with the opera's name, the selection being sung, the composers name and portrait.
